Requisition #: TRNSR2401 Job Category: Other Department: Michael Garron Hospital Job Type: Permanent Full Time Open Positions: 1 Job Number: J0424-0407 OVERVIEW The Medical Dictation Typist is responsible for transcribing, editing, and proofreading all types of dictated clinical documentation. This role involves close collaboration with physicians and residents to offer training for clinical documentation dictation, optimize clinical documentation integrity, and facilitate quality patient care. EDUCATION • Medical Transcriptionist Certificate and equivalent experience is required • Minimum Grade 12 diploma required. • Diploma Clinical Documentation Improvement preferred • Graduate from an accredited Health Information Management Professional program preferred QUALIFICATIONS • Minimum of 3 years of working experience in an acute care facility transcribing/editing all types of medical reports • Proficiency in Electronic Medical Record software, such as Oracle Cerner is preferred • Experience in Dragon medical Dictation consider as an asset. • Working knowledge and understanding of transcription and dictation systems • Experience using eScription platform is considered a strong asset • Ability to edit and critique transcripts through Quality Assurance required • Excellent knowledge of Medical Terminology and use of the English language (grammar, spelling, editing) • Excellent and accurate keyboarding skills (80-100 wpm) • Experience working in Microsoft Office and Internet Explorer required • Familiarity with ESL dictators is an asset • Excellent analytical, attention to detail and problem-solving skills • Good work and attendance record required. • Preferred knowledge and experience in working with Oracle Cerner EHR • Good interprofessional skills and communication skills • Working with confidential personal health information and the ability to understand and apply key principles of privacy legislation • All employees of Toronto East Health network - Michael Garron Hospital (MGH) [formerly Toronto East General Hospital (TEGH)] agree to work within the legislated practices of the Occupational Health and Safety Act of Ontario. • All employees of MGH are responsible to contribute to a transparent culture of patient and staff safety by adhering to and abiding by patient and staff safety policies and procedures set by MGH. • All employees are accountable for protecting the psychological health and safety of themselves and their co-workers through adherence to Toronto East Health network's policies and practices.
