OVERVIEW

The Manager, ICU and Vascular Access Team reports to the Director, Surgery and is responsible for ensuring patient care services are delivered in accordance with the organizations' vision and strategic goals. This is achieved by providing patient focused care, encouraging people, ensuring value, having a collaborative spirit and inspiring innovation. As part of the Critcal Care Program, the Manager will oversee the operations and practice of the Critical Care response team. As a Manager, your primary responsibilities will be, to plan, develop, implement and manage the fiscal resources of the unit, including, utilization management, annual capital equipment and operating budgets; lead staff in providing excellence in patient care; and facilitate, cooperative and collaborative working relationships with internal and external shareholders.

 

EDUCATION

- Baccalaureate Degree in a clinical discipline
- Masters in a related field, an asset
- Current registration with professional College/Association.
- Demonstrated commitment to on-going learning and professional development
- Certification in critical care nursing an asset.


QUALIFICATIONS

- Minimum of 5 years related experience; at least 2 years in a leadership capacity.
- Labour and employee relations skills.
- Strong leadership skills.
- Knowledge of organizational structures and functions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstated superior problem solving and critical thinking skills.
- Demonstrated ability to forecast, plan and monitor the operating and capital equipment budget  for areas of responsibility.
- Demonstrated embodiment of MGH core values.
- Advocate for patients, staff and the advancement of professional practice.
- Demonstrated strong customer focus.
- Knowledge of scheduling and staffing principles.
- Demonstrated ability in fair and equitable work practices. 
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a team member.
- Working knowledge of clinical/administrative computer software, as required.
- Good work and attendance record required.
