Job Number: J0722-1584 Requisition #: COVD12211 Job Category: Administrative / Clerical Department: Michael Garron Hospital Job Type: Temporary Full Time Open Positions: 2 OVERVIEW Reporting to the Senior Communications Specialist, Corporate Communications, the Communications and Community Engagement Coordinator will work collaboratively with the MGH Corporate Communications team; the Communications Committee for East Toronto Health Partners (ETHP), the Ontario Health Team (OHT) serving East Toronto; and stakeholders across the hospital and OHT to support communications needs related to COVID-19 and other projects across the hospital and OHT. The Communications and Community Engagement Coordinator will be required to work remotely and on-site at the hospital as needed. MGH has robust screening and physical distancing practices in place for all employees to ensure a safe and healthy work environment during the COVID-19 pandemic. Primary Responsibilities: Pandemic Communications - Collaborate with the MGH Corporate Communications team and ETHP Communications Committee on initiatives related to pandemic response and recovery in East Toronto, including COVID-19 OutreachCentres, testing, treatment and vaccines - Assist MGH and community partners on communications strategies to help share important information about COVID-19 and other preventative healthcare services - Develop and update communication products and materials including websites, intranet, social media, flyers and briefing notes - Support other departmental projects and needs as assigned Public Relations, Media and Social Media - Serve as the first point of contact for media requests for MGH and ETHP, and work with team members to develop and facilitate responses - Support the documentation of media requests and mentions to help inform team, leadership and clients of media relations work - Support the design and development of content onMGH’s and ETHP’s social media platforms Content Creation: Writing/Interviewing/Storytelling - Increase awareness of MGH’s and ETHP’s healthcare services, community programs, partnerships, research and people by contributing to MGH’s and ETHP’s digital newsrooms - Pitch, research, write and interview subject matter experts for stories on MGH’s and ETHP’s corporate websites, social media channels, internal and external newsletters and community/trade publications - Use a variety of multimedia platforms to distribute and leverage content and increase engagement, including photography, video, infographics and new media platforms Internal and External Communications - Write, edit and update content for MGH’s corporate website and intranet, and ETHP’s corporate website, and provide support on client requests and updates - Support the planning and publication of ETHP’s internal and external newsletters - Support with communications planning efforts on corporate campaigns and developing assets that contribute to the successfulexecution of campaigns across MGH and ETHP - Use data and analytics to evaluate success of content and campaigns and identify opportunities for improvement and further engagement Special Projects - Support the implementation of special projects and other assignments as required EDUCATION - Post-secondary degree or diploma in communications, public relations, journalism or related field, and one to two years of experience in communications or related field QUALIFICATIONS - Excellent written, listening and presentation skills - Positive team player who works collaboratively with stakeholders across the hospital, OHT and community - Highly motivated and demonstrated success in taking initiative and problem solving - Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment and effectively manage multiple competing requests with great attention to detail - Present ideas and communication plans clearly and articulately to key audiences - Maintains professionalism and represents the hospital and OHT with diplomacy - Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite, social media platforms and content management systems - Knowledge and experience with graphic design platforms such as Canva, video filming and editing considered an asset - Previous experience in a healthcare or hospital setting considered an asset - All employees of Michael Garron Hospital (MGH), a division of Toronto East Health Network (TEHN) [formerly Toronto East General Hospital (TEGH)] agree to work within the legislated practices of the Occupational Health and Safety Act of Ontario. - All employees of MGH are responsible to contribute to a transparent culture of patient andstaff safety by adhering to and abiding by patient and staff safety policies and procedures set by MGH. - All employees are accountable for protecting the psychological health and safety of themselves and their co-workers through adherence to MGH's policies and practices.
