OVERVIEW

Reporting to the Manager, Financial Planning and Reporting and the Manager, Capital and Treasury, the Senior Financial Analyst is responsible for the preparation of accurate and timely financial information for various programs of the Toronto East Health Network, including periodic and year-end audited financial statements.

The Senior Financial Analyst is a highly motivated self-starter who seeks to understand all aspects of current Hospital financial and statistical reporting. The position also provides support for program management in budgeting, financial analysis and capital. To be successful in the position, the incumbent must be willing to invest the necessary time to understand the related systems in order to inform financial system improvements and streamlining of financial processes where needed. As an agent of change, this individual is motivated to collaborate with and support Financial Services staff to make the necessary process changes.

   

EDUCATION

- Chartered Professional Accountant (CA, CMA, or CGA) designation coupled with a degree in business or relevant program of study.
- Strong computer skills required in all Microsoft applications (i.e. Excel, Word, Outlook) with an aptitude for learning new computer applications quickly.
- Proven working knowledge of SAP ECC is strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with GEAC (Smart stream) and Cognos would be an asset.
- Working knowledge of MIS Standards and MOHLTC reporting requirements preferred.
- Experience using multiple data sources (financial, statistical, Ministry data, etc.) to develop and prepare complex analysis preferred.

QUALIFICATIONS

-    3-5 years of financial analysis and interpretation of results including budget variances experience in a hospital setting.
-    Minimum of 2 years of auditing experience including evaluating controls.
-    Strong analytical and communication skills are required, as well as the ability to work independently.
-    Superior communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work well in a multi-disciplinary team.
-    Demonstrated excellence in organizing and prioritizing workflow to meet deadlines in ahigh- pressure, time-sensitive environment.
-    Flexible, self-directed and able to work effectively with minimal supervision.
-    Demonstrated effective organizational, leadership, judgment, critical thinking and decision-making skills.
-    Possesses a strong ability to interact with various levels of client groups both internally and externally.
