OVERVIEW

The Supervisor reports to the Manager and ensures that patient services are delivered with high quality, safety, and consistency daily in the Family Birthing Centre (FBC) and program clinics. This is achieved through continuous supervision of care team members to promote patient-centered, timely, and efficient care. The incumbent maximizes available resources to facilitate efficient patient flow and staffing to enhance the patient care experience. The supervisor acts as a change agent to help facilitate improvements within FBC and across MNC. Additionally, the Supervisor acts as a process owner for key department initiatives and ensures that improvements are evaluated, monitored, and sustained.

 

EDUCATION

- Undergraduate degree in Clinical Discipline. 
- BScN preferred with BCLS/NRP/PALS certifications an asset. 
- Current certificate of competence issued by the disciplines licensing body in Ontario.
- Completion of 21 hours of breastfeeding course or willingness to complete the course within the first 6 months of hire.


QUALIFICATIONS

-  A minimum of 4-5 years recent experience in Perinatal, NICU or Pediatrics (of which 1-2 years of consistent development in a leadership capacity).
-  Demonstrated knowledge of patient/staff scheduling systems, union rules, payroll systems, workload management systems and conflict resolution skills.
-  Demonstrated computer literacy with proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Cerner applications, Outlook, and Internet Explorer.
-  Flexible, self-directed and organized within thescope of  responsibility; has initiative and independent judgment.
-  Must be willing to be flexible as it relates to the employee's hours of work and the ability to work all shifts as required.
-  Must be willing to take rotational on-call responsibilities as required.
-  Demonstrated effective interpersonal, communication, negotiation and presentation skills.
-  Demonstrated ability to multi-task and problem-solve with proven critical and creative thinking skills.
-  Evidence of ongoing education (e.g. workshops, seminars, etc.) and upgrading of technical skills and knowledge.
-  Good work and attendance record required.
