OVERVIEW

Respsonsible for decontaminating, reprocessing and sterilization of equipment, supplies and surgical instrumentation. Cleaning of labour rooms and maintaining stock of supplies.

 

EDUCATION

- Grade 12 or equivalent.
- Current BLS.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

-  Recent experience in a sterile processing area recommended.
-  Recent experience working in the Operating Room and/or Obstetrical Units recommended.
-  Demonstrated ability in cleaning of patient equipment and areas.
-  Ability to lift 10 kg, transport patients, specimens, & supplies as required.
-  Ability to work comfortably around labouring patients and newborns.
-  Decontamination, preparation and sterilization of trays, basin sets, etc.
-  Demonstrated ability to adhere to the principles of asepsis technique.
-  Demonstrated ability to problem solve effectively.
-  Good decision-making skills.
-  Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service.
-  Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
- Must be prepared to work in all areas of Maternal/Newborn & Child Health Services (skills & abilities considered).
-  Good work and attendance record required.
